LATIN ACCESS was created by Patricia DÃaz in 1993 in response to the challenges and opportunities posed by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and globalization at large. Patricia was born in Mexico City and has lived in Atlantic Canada since 1983. She has successfully operated her own Intercultural Communication Services in Prince Edward Island, Canada since 1985, and has been a member of Rotary International since 1989.
Patricia obtained certification as a Teacher of English-as-a-Foreign Language (EFL), Spanish Translator & Interpreter at Oxford, England in 1976; studied German at the Goethe Institut, and French at L’Alliançe Française in Mexico City; and continued to further her French studies at Laval University in Quebec, Canada. Patricia also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Hospitality Industries from Universidad del Valle de México. As a true life-long learner, throughout the years Patricia has continued to take a number of diverse seminars and courses in linguistics, business communications, human relations, networking, sales, international trade, marketing et al.
Patricia’s vast professional experience ranges from having taught English-as-a-Foreign Language (EFL) to executives from the private and public sectors in Mexico City to delivering English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) Programs at Holland College in Prince Edward Island, Canada. She presently delivers customized EFL training programs to international clients from a variety of professional backgrounds and cultures; has taught Spanish for more than 25 years and performed as a Spanish Sessional Lecturer at the University of Prince Edward Island for three years. Courses in Human Relations, Marketing & Business Communications for the Culinary Institute of Canada have been designed and presented by her.
Patricia has conducted extensive research to develop, constantly update and deliver Seminars In Intercultural Communication, Human Relations, Social Etiquette, and International Business Protocol to government officials, professionals, business people, and anyone involved in global affairs. She has been featured as a successful "real-world" intercultural communicator, in the 2002 Canadian Edition of Excellence in Business Communication, a textbook published by Prentice Hall & Ryerson University Department of Business & Technical Communication, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
